The Savanna Sanctuary is dedicated to saving the endangered white oak trees and restoring the oak savanna prairie through responsible land management practices.

The Savanna Sanctuary employs natural land management practices, including, controlled grazing and burns, without using destructive herbicides.

The roots of our treasured white oak trees (some of which are almost 200 years old) have been damaged by root rot, threatening their very existence.

Bur and white oak seedlings do not stand a chance to survive in the shade of other trees. It is crucial to remove the invasive trees so they do not choke out the oaks.
